LU GOODWIN MARK

 

Lu Goodwin Mark instructs Plasters, Metallics, American Clay and Skimstone, as well as the new Modern Masters Portfolio Update, and the new Platinum classes for Austin School of Faux Finishes at the Design Center of Austin.  She additionally continues to oversee Interior Productions for Austin School of Faux Finishes.   Lu brought these Classic European and American Plasters to Austin  in 2001, from Las Vegas.  She enjoyed a very traditional art education, but quickly  developed a great love for Architecture and Interior Design.  During her long career in Sales and Management, Lu directed numerous large scale National Projects. 

Under her leadership Austin School of Faux Finishes has grown to include "European Plasters Classes I" & "II", and boasts over 300 European Plaster Students with thirty five Graduate Students.  New this year, Lu promises a new focus on "Green" plasters and paints, for our environmentally sensitive Texas population.  So be sure to expect new and exquisite options, like the Platinum line from Modern Masters.

 

Italian Muralist Instructor

PHILIP WADE

Philip Wade was born and grew up in northern New Jersey. He graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia in 1981, the nations oldest art school.  A chance meeting with the distinguished Austin artist, Bob Levers led to a full scholarship in the MFA painting program at U. of Texas, graduating in 1984.

Wade, a full time artist has exhibited and taught in many galleries and is in innumerable private collections around the country, such as the Driskell Hotel, the homes of Blanton Museum director Jesse Otto Hite, and actress Diane Ladd.  Having recently completed a 100 ft. Mural project at the ranch of Mr. & Mrs. Mort Topfer, Philip has agreed to Instruct our class in elemental Italian Murals. We are so delighted and honored to enjoy the talents of long time artist and accomplished Muralist, Philip Wade.

PAT STRONG

Pat Strong has been the creative mind behind  Decorative Painting in Austin, Texas since 1992.  She specializes in investigating old techniques and inventing new ways of achieving spectacular visual effects with new materials.  She holds a degree in Art History from the University of Texas and has 25 years experience in visual arts and commercial  visual presentation. Pat's study of chemistry and internship with the Conservation Laboratory of the Texas Memorial Museum and work under the Conservator, Claire Musenrider (Museum of International Folk Art,  Santa Fe) have formed her understanding of the way decorative coatings work.

With these attributes and more, Pat has created her two current classes,  each with it's own significant interest in the Faux business.  First "Glazes I" is really the best way to begin a career in Faux Art.  Additionally, Pat teaches a very successful class in "Furniture and Cabinets".
