Austin School of Faux Finishes

Look for the new "3 Day Intensive" class, inexpensively available to the Faux Finisher in September, but with even more of the new "Platinum" line products. We've hired an instructor for our first Faux Artist class on Construction Site Spanish, and we're adding that later this year.

Now in Austin our walls have gone "Green" with zero VOC "Green Planet Paints", Platinum's 190 colors of basecoat/paint and the new Japanese line "Shizen", from Modern Masters. All of these new "Green" products were introduced here in Austin at the "Austin Green Living Home Show" in April. Here at our studio, Faux Artists, Homeowners, Interior Designers, Builders and Fine Artists enjoy easy access to ancient finishes, previously only available on the coasts. We will introduce the other "Platinum" product lines from Modern Masters including Glazes, Bellezza, Metallic Plasters and Theme Paints in October.

Our classes do run full with only six students at a time, and our productions are beautiful. So, choose a class and find the most exquisite interior wall products in the world. Or just ask us to install your finishes and expect only the best.

A When you're ready to make that step into expert Faux Finisher, I hope you'll consider us for an amazing European Plasters II Class, one of my favorite classes to teach. Austin Green Builders are requesting American Clay, so you can also sign up for that two day class now too.

Our Hill Country Decorative Artists is now an arm of IDAL. Our meetings bring Faux Finishers from Houston, Dallas and San Antonio, as well as here in Austin together to share our newest designs and ideas. Students and Professionals attend our meetings. Our next get-to-gather will be September 26th, here at our studio at 7 pm. Check us out.

Milan, Italy awaits us in 08, so we need to plan our trip this year. We will want to have a class and take some day trips in the Tuscany area of central Italy. We hope you'll join us as we want to take fifteen students on this very exciting trip.

Our school is located in the East Wing of the Design Center of Austin at Penn Field. We sit up on a hill by the old 1940's Penn Field Water Tower, on the east side of Congress, just a block south of St. Edwards University. Penn Field was the original airport in Austin, Texas, built by old men and Boy Scouts, since all healthy men were fighting during WWI. Here in the heart of downtown Austin's "Soco" district, we're surrounded by Artists and European Imports worthy of your home. Our open concept is accessible to other wonderful interior retail spaces including Architerra Tile, Alexander Marchant Hardware and Architectural Lighting, and much more including our courtyard and pool.

Our main class is focused on the Old World European Finishes of Mediterranean Stucco, Roman Piazzo, French Country, Venetian Plaster, Marmorino, and a Tuscany Glaze with products from Japan, Italy, Canada, and the America's. We've added classes in Metals & Pearls, SkimStone for concrete, Italian Murals, Furniture & Cabinet Finishes, and now feature a class in the new "Platinum" products from Modern Masters. All of our classes feature Terms, Tools and Techniques allowing you to create sample boards of the highest quality. We are geared to insure the conveyance of clear information, hands-on expertise and a comfort level required by homeowners and career enthusiasts alike. You will receive the Austin School of Faux Finishes class book, chocked full of quick reference material and ideas as well as beautiful samples you create and a highly respected graduation certificate.
